Investment casting

    Investment casting, also known as precision casting or lost-wax casting, is one of the oldest manufacturing processes, dating back thousands of years. During investment casting manufacturing process, A pattern in the shape of the desired part is made with wax, which is then dipped into fine ceramic slurry that contains colloidal silica and alumina. The mould is dried and heated inside an oven to melt out the wax leaving behind a ceramic shell mould for casting. Then molten liquid metal is poured into the ceramic shell mold to get the desired cast part.

   In Investment casting, one pattern only creates one part which increases production time and costs relative to other casting processes. However, since the mold is destroyed during the process, parts with complex geometries and intricate details can be created.

   Parts manufactured with investment casting include turbine blades, medical equipment, firearm components, gears, jewelry, golf club heads, and many other machine components with complex geometry. High temperature applications are also common, which includes parts for the automotive, aircraft, and military industries etc.Investment casting can make use of most common metals like aluminum alloys, bronze alloys, magnesium alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, and tool steel
